The Big Hairy Deal is that a law passed in November said that Guatemala would begin brand new system of adoption no sooner than April. The cases started before December 31st would be grandfathered and completed ONLY if registered by Feb 12th (30 business days). The Central Authority that all 3,000 cases need to be registered with only began accepting cases in an emergency Saturday workday. The deadline is two days aways and we are not registered. My inner thoughts are nearly hysterical.
My agency is asking us to contact our congressmen. I'm not even sure what to write, but I'm sending emails off right this very second. That one child may be left to live in Guatemalan state care who has a stable family waiting for them is one child too many!
