The kids and I got up early to have Aaron at the metro a mile away before 7am. It was so jammed I dropped him off a few blocks away and he and a friend joined the masses herding to the station. I wish I had a picture of that!
Record number crowds.

Jackie & the two first families meeting before the ceremony

Jonathan watching history being made

Praying with Rick Warren. Amen!

My pursuit of a good picture of both of them foiled again--but a nice try.

Now for pictures from Aaron's perspective from downtown.
Metro lines. At 7am the wait was under an hour. Every train arrived empty and left full. Aaron & another man blocked their door since at every stop along the way someone tried to cram on.

Crowds

By 9:35am everything from the Capitol to the Washington Monument was full and blocked off. This was as far as they could go.

Catching the action on the jumbo screens.

Aaron had actual tickets for Bush's second inauguration thanks to Steve Lewis and his Hawaiian congressman. Back then he said there were more protesters than attendees, it seemed. Here is a pro-lifer with some guts.

brrrrr.... Even dressed in ski gear and work boots, Aaron couldn't stay warm standing in one place for so many hours. Neither could the Potomac.
