July 15: It is official. The Guatemalan government has declared us the legal parents. The next step is for the birthmom to make her last of 6 trips to the city to give her thumb printed consent. Bless her heart! Much love to her.
Update July 23: The decree is signed and an updated birth certificate has been requested. The embassy needs the amended b.c. that names us as the parents and the name María José Kraft to apply for her orphan visa and passport. Our travel date rests soley in the hands of this civil registry, since they've delayed many, many families by a month and half to four months. Aaron is guessing we'll travel at the end of August. I'm guessing the second week of September. I like his idea better.
